Impulsively generated kink wave trains in solar coronal slabs

ABSTRACT We numerically follow the response of density-enhanced slabs to impulsive, localized, transverse velocity perturbations by working in framework ideal magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). Both linear and non-linear regimes are addressed. Kink wave trains seen develop along examined slabs, sharing characteristics that more oscillatory patterns emerge with time apparent wavelength increases distance at a given instant. Two features none less arise due non-linearity, one being density cavity close exciter other appearance shocks both outside inside nominal slab. These may be relevant for understanding interaction between magnetic structures such explosive events as coronal mass ejections. Our numerical findings on kink solar discussed connection typical measurements streamer waves.
